Terri Johns, Mile Collins-Williams, and Bianca Bruzzese of the West End Home Builders’ Association present YWCA Hamilton CEO, Denise Christopherson, and Director of Operations, Medora Uppal, with a cheque for $10,000 in support of the Women Build Hamilton campaign and the Putman Family YWCA.
We are thrilled to announce the newest members of our #WomenBuildHamilton Builder’s Circle: the West End Hamilton Homebuilder’s Association!
Thanks to the Homebuilders’ generous donation of $10,000, we are now one step closer to our bold goal of raising $5 million to cover the costs of the new Putman Family YWCA. This state-of-the-art building in the heart of the Crown Point neighbourhood provides homes to 50 women and women-led families, as well as wraparound supports, programming, and community spaces.
“The West End Home Builders is excited to be part of the community building project at the Putman Family YWCA,” said Bianca Bruzzese, president of the WEHBA and a partner with BDO Canada. “We also want to thank all of our other members who have contributed to the campaign.”
Members of our #WomenBuildHamilton Builders’ Circle have gone above and beyond to make a lasting impact in the lives of women, girls and families. All members of our circle have generously donated $10,000 or more to provide women and children with a stable home and the resources and opportunities to rebuild their lives.
Our CEO Denise Christopherson said that it’s a natural for for the Homebuilder’s Association to work alongside YWCA Hamilton to create more affordable housing in the city.
“West End HBA knows what’s needed from the builder’s side, and YWCA Hamilton knows what’s needed on the non-profit side, so it’s a matter of bringing the two together. There’s a lot of opportunity for partnership,” Denise said.
This generous donation is helping us to reach our ambitious #WomenBuildHamilton fundraising goals before our March 2023 deadline. We are getting so close to the finish line, with only $600,000 left to raise – but we need your help to put us over the top!
There are many ways to support us as we fundraise to cover the costs of the Putman Family YWCA, including making a donation online, joining our Builders Circle, shopping our YWCA Hamilton store, and participating in our “Tap to Give” campaign by hosting a touchless donation station at your businesses or event.
Help us fund affordable housing for women and families!
